Details of the mysterious SoySauce, who burst onto the scene earlier this year, are slowly trickling out. Based out of Washington, DC, the pseudonym is said to belong to a duo of producers, including the guy you see above. It is said that they will be releasing more press pictures with their next single, revealing the identity of the second producer.
Taking indie band Sir Sly‘s single “You Haunt Me,” SoySauce retains most of the song’s vocal track, but trades in the chorus’ Cure-like synths for the clanging of bottles and a chilled-out 808. Throughout the song, there’s a hint of what sounds like a baby crying. Timbaland would be proud.
The song’s SoundCloud page tells a charming story about a Skype conversation with Ryan Hemsworth, a grape, and hope. Never give up hope everybody.
Sir Sly’s “You Haunt Me (SoySauce Edition)” is available on iTunes. Stream it below.
