Romare - Taste of Honey (From The City)

Tagged as “Afrofuturism,” the Love Songs: Part One EP from UK producer Romare, by way of Black Acre Records, is an assortment of jungle, bass, house and footwork infused with chopped homages to blues and jazz classics.  Peggy Lee’s mega-hit “You Give Me Fever” is undisguised on Romare’s lustful, footwork reincarnation “Your Love (You Give Me Fever),” while familiar 808s on Romare’s “Taste of Honey (From the City)” lurk with Lyn Collins’s “Think (About It)”.  Achieving an unprecedented level of artistry (and creative range), “Jimi & Faye (Part One)” is a sort of downtempo house track with cinematic samples, screwed vocals and a fantastic change-up in the last minute and half.  Finally, hearts will ache with the fourth and final track – a bluesy, piano and trumpet-driven “Hey Now (When I Give You All My Love’)”.  Romare spares no variety.

Love Songs: Part One is available now on iTunes.
