Hudson Mohawke aka Hudmo aka Young RossMo has been busy to say the least. Between remixes, commercials, a new solo LP coming on Warp this year as well as a second LP from TNGHT, and productions under the G.O.O.D. Beats banner, Hudmo can be thought to stay locked in the studio, and that’s just how he likes it. We’ve been slacking over here with the coverage so this post is dedicated to some of the things to come out of Mr. Mohawkes studio over the last month or so. We start with his banging remix of Disclosure‘s “White Noise feat. AlunaGeorge” which features Hudmo’s distinct syncopated synth and bass patterns with big drum sounds.
While this next cut is a brief one minute and twenty second snippet ripped from a recent set by The Gaslamp Killer for BBC Radio 1, “Mulit Orch” is something to hold us over until Hudmo’s next solo album, expected to arrive this year.
Another radio rip, this time from MistaJam‘s BBC Radio 1Xtra Show from March 3, comes “Sweet Silverskin.” Apparently it is a track from 2010 and you can hear the familiar sound of Hudmo productions from this time period with a big, loose rock kick drum and trumpeting synths. Shout out to The Blessings. You just can’t play exclusives on the radio these days without expecting them to get ripped.
Check out this brand new tune “Monte Fisto” featured in a recent Adidas commercial starring Argentine footballer Lionel Messi. The TNGHT smash “Higher Ground” can also be heard in a separate, high energy Adidas advertisement. Big tings gwan fi me yute, seen!
Not really so much a huge fan of interviews or photo shoots, here is a rare sit down with Ross as part of Serato’s “Icon” series where he discusses his early beginnings and what to expect for the future. This recent interview with NME is a bit more telling however.
