Here is a new bootleg remix of Kid Ink & Dej Loaf‘s “Be Real” from Mike Gao utilizing some newly developed, simple but pragmatic and futuristic tools for producers.
New custom music technology concepts include a plugin made to pitchbend any audio channel in real time using the keyboard pitch wheel. I try to tell producers how exciting this is, and just get blank stares. Yes, you can load a sample into a sampler type instrument and pitch bend it, or pitchbend synthesizers, but this lets you pitch bend actual audio in real time using the 0-16000 resolution pitch wheel whereas regular knobs only have the resolution of 0-127…
Another new idea, come up with in a session with Esta was the use of randomized percussion (808 hat/shaker/rimshot/clave randomizing between each other through some simple Max4Live wizardry). Improvements to my Polyplayground iPad App is also on the way and currently under Apple review, with improved synthesizer filter, improved CPU usage, improved synth oscillators, and mad bug fixes.
Other techy/nerdy shit I have been experimenting with is the three.js API three.js for making 3D WebGL websites that go with my beats. Here is something I hacked together (requires iOS8 or Chrome / newish browsers that support WebGL): www.mikegao.com.
