Without Pedro Winter, there probably wouldn’t be an Okayfuture.  Winter, a/k/a Busy P, got his first break in 1996 as the manager for French upstarts, Daft Punk.  Playing an intergral part in taking the group from an unknown Parisian house duo to arguably the most influential act in electronic dance music history, Busy P is by all accounts a tastemaker – lifting the French house sound to massive heights around the world.

Stepping down from his post with Daft Punk in 2008, Busy P founded the world-renowned Ed Banger Records – the label responsible for turning acts like Justice, DJ Mehdi (R.I.P.), and Sebastian into the names they are today.  As the head of Ed Banger, Busy P is also a DJ, and is known to open up for many of the label’s acts, often touring with them as their support.

This week sees the release of his first official solo release since 2008.  The Still Busy EP features two original tracks, the eponymous “Still Busy” and “This Song,” as well as two remixes to accompany each.  “Still Busy,” which features Thunderbird Gerard, comes with remixes from Maelstrom and Parris Mitchell.  “This Song” features vocals from Australian stand-out Andrew Woodhead and receives new treatments from Dexter and Justice’s own Xavier de Rosnay.

Check out the promo video below, in which a Microsoft SAM’d Busy P explains the creation of the EP for you.  If you’re anything like us, you will probably nerd out about it too.  Buy Busy P’s Still Busy EP on Beatport.
