Taking a rare break from music history (or in the case of the last 4 weeks, San Francisco Raves of the 90’s), this week’s Throwback Thursdays takes a brief glimpse at computers of the past, and the graphic designs that the revolutionary Don Drapers of the 50’s used to introduce these seemingly space-age machines of the future to the world.
The brilliant use of colors, dynamic layouts and sleek typography are still stunning today. As one put it in the comments section where we found these guys: “Good design is timeless.”
Little did they know how far we would go with it, and the endless possibilities of it’s growth, all from this enormous reel-to-reel technology that simply compiled and calculated figures. You can find more vintage computer brochures at the Computer History Museum.
