FS Green - 24 Hours - Midas Hutch Remix

It’s been all gold everything for Amsterdam producer/DJ FS Green lately.

Back in the Spring, he released Gowtu, an EP of future bass tracks built around classic tunes from his Surinamese upbringing. Gowtu, of course, means “Gold” in Taki Taki, the native tongue of his motherland.

Even before that, in his All Good Vol. 2 mix back in February, FS featured a modernized edit he made of Midnight Star’s gold-themed classic “Midas Touch.”

While his edit gets a boost from his customary Dutch bass style, the original version’s synth-fueled blend of disco, soul and funk lingered in FS’ soul, giving birth in sound and name to his new production side project, Midas Hutch.

The first song to get the Midas Hutch touch is, appropriately enough, TeeFLii’s “24 Hours,” which in its original form boasts a beat by Rap and R&B’s reigning King Midas, the omnipresent mega-hit-maker DJ Mustard.

Using alchemy skills that would make Edward and Alphonse Elric each shed a tear, FS turns TeeFLii’s sex-drenched club anthem (sans 2 Chainz) into a feel-good, end-of-summer jam that summons the spirits of Cheryl Lynn’s “Got to Be Real” and The Emotions’ “Best of My Love” and infuses them with that same 80’s keyboard funk that sent Midnight Star to the top of the charts.

You can stream and download TeeFLii “24 Hours (Midas Hutch Remix)” below, with cover art by Dutch designer/artist Brian Elstak.

The track made it’s broadcast debut on 1xtra’s RnB with CJ Beatz back in July, but FS Green is sharing it publicly here on Okayfuture for the first time.

He’s planning to release two more Midas Hutch tracks in the coming months, and with Amsterdam Dance Event on the horizon, he’ll be dropping his third installment of his All Good mix series and a corresponding All Good EP. Meanwhile, the prolific beatmaker is also working on another EP of original mixes which he hopes to release some time next year. Stay tuned.
