Editor’s Note:  Okayfuture’s most adventurous contributor Kelley Frank spent a week touring with London producer Feed Me on his North American tour, Psychedelic Journey, which featured support from Delta Heavy, Le Castle Vania, Treasure Fingers, TJANI and Zeros. This is her story. #buslife

8/16 – Washington, D.C.
2:23am
Over the woods and through Grandmother’s house I went. Seven tortuous hours later, I’ve arrived in D.C. just in time to board the bus for bus call.

4:45am
You have to sleep with your feet facing forward. Ash, the Tour Manager, informed me before I crawled into my bunk. It’s a safety precaution to protect your spine in case the bus comes to a sudden stop. They don’t want you crunching your neck and flying into the front wall of your small cubby. I was also warned of how cold the bunks would be to prevent the spread of germs. I’ll be sleeping in my leather jacket tonight.

8/16 – Columbus, Ohio
2:37pm
In less than 24 hours, I’ve been appointed Excursions Director for the slew of upcoming off days! Today’s options in quaint Columbus offer go-karting or paintball. Kudos to me for convincing my testosterone-fueled friends that go-karting is just as blood pumping, but somewhat less painful, than paintball. Right now, we’re filling up on a shameful amount of McDonald’s to prepare for the race.

5:54pm
As we wait for the Ubers to arrive, Feed Me encourages everyone to “make a gang sign” while he takes the first shots on the Polaroid. Mitch, a member of the Teeth 2.0 lighting team, manages to do “LA” backwards.  Auke, also a member of Teeth 2.0, is from Holland. He informs Feed Me that they don’t have gangs where he’s from, so he throws up his favorite hood “Wifi.”  Auke’s finger makes a cameo in Feed Me’s picture.

10:46pm
Feed Me smoked us all. I thought go-karting was a middle American past-time, but apparently it’s also a middle English past-time as well (Feed Me is from Hertfordshire, England).  TJANI can’t actually drive a car (he’s a city kid that grew in Manhattan), but still managed to come in second to last. He’s signed to Feed Me’s Sotto Voce label. There’s a rumor he has an EP coming out this Fall, but no one on the tour would confirm.
